Killington, Vt. - Nov 26, 2017 - 34,000 people came out to watch the Women’s Ski World Cup over the weekend.

The event attracted visitors from all over, including Peter Pupatore who traveled from Alaska.

“I’m excited for it,” he said. “It’s great to have all the girls skiing here.”

Some local businesses were excited about the big draw to the area as well.

Domenic Chiarella is the owner of Domenic’s Upscale Pizza Joint right down the road from the mountain. He said business has quadrupled on race weekend as opposed to normal.

The mountain recognized the importance of the World Cup to the community as well.

"Oh my gosh it's just amazing,” Communications Manager Kristel Fillmore said. “Not just for the mountain, but for the whole community. This year we have 4,000 more spectators than we had last year so we're up to 34,000 spectators over the two days of this event."

Local 22 & Local 44 spoke with another small business owner who did not wish to be named. The owner said it's hard for local business to compete with the mountain.
